Note: Though I open up with Bahasa Indonesia, this post is mostly written in English
Jadi nge blog aja deh. Yah kalaupun belum menghasilkan tulisan akademik, paling tidak menghasilkan catatan harian lah ya J)
So let’s talk about my last Eid.
I spent this year’s Eid in Kuala Lumpur, just like the last five years. What’s different is I no longer live in a campus cluster. Hence I decided to have my Eid prayer in IIUM SHAS mosque, my previous university. I could have gone to UTM though, but I just feel like missing IIUM and all its peaceful and diverse Islamic environment. Plus, my sister is there so I think it’s better to go and see her.
It was on September 24th. At 7am Sinatra picked me and Farah (my IIUMian best friend and housemate. Oh wait, Natra and Farah they are all my best friends) in our apartment. With all the hassle (well it’s actually me who took forever to get ready), we reached the destination just 15 minutes before the prayer started.
The prayers went well and nothing new came up. Khutbah was delivered in two languages, surprisingly no Malay (only English and Arabic). Not many faces we recognized (it’s been awhile since we left, what should we expect?). I felt so happy to see some old good friends.

We also went to the field, checking out the animals waiting to be sacrificed :-p
We got bored in no time, and heading out to Mc Donald’s before visiting Tami’s house. Why McD, simply because we’ve got nobody invited us to their house but Tami (for lunch) and Noerma (for dinner). This is the best you can get when you spend Eid away from the homeland. Unfortunately we forgot to take pictures in Tami’s house :’(
In the aternoon, I had a kinda BBQ party with the UTM Indonesian folks. Not even 20 people showed up. Guess they rest were busy with family (the Indonesians in UTM KL are postgraduates, so we can say that most of them are 26 plus and settled).
I wrapped the day by having dinner in Noerma’s. There were Kak Ica, Farah, Sinatra, Dimas, even Emon gathered in the house. It was warm, homey and lovely.
Thank you everyone for the happy vibes during the Eid. Kuala Lumpur has now become a real second home (it’s been 6 years anyway.Haha!).
